Services Offered

Personal approach:

I work in a very relational way, taking the lead from you and using what is happening between us in the sessions to support you to explore the issues you bring and help you move forward. I have a particular interest in the connection between body and mind and have undertaken a two-year post-qualifying training in this aspect of psychotherapy. I also have a strong interest in creativity and in creative arts therapies.

Counselling and Psychotherapy:

There is currently no clear professional distinction between counselling and psychotherapy. From my point of view, counselling involves exploring current life issues whereas psychotherapy also opens up the exploration of earlier childhood and family experiences. Both approaches can be extremely helpful and healing and I will be guided by where you wish to focus our attention.

Supervision:

My clinical Masters degree included advanced training in the theory and clinical practice of psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioural and humanistic psychotherapies and their integration into a cohesive clinical relational model. I believe in the centrality of the therapeutic and supervisory relationship and work explicity with this in supervision. I am also strongly influenced by developmental, systemic and somatic theories and practices.
